BLACKPINK’s Ice Cream’ M/V Reaches 700 million views…10th Video To Reach Such a Feat
[스포츠경향=안병길 기자] BLACKPINK’s ‘Ice Cream’ M/V reached 700 million views on YouTube.
According to YG Entertainment on the 13th, the M/V for BLACKPINK’s ‘Ice Cream’ surpassed 700 million views on YouTube as of 4:08 a.m. on the same day. This feat comes after around a year and 5 months since it was released in August 2020.
As a result, BLACKPINK has become the K-POP group which has the greatest number of videos with more than 700 million views. Ahead of ‘Ice Cream’, BLACKPINK had numerous videos which had more than 700 million views such as ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU (1.8 billion views)’, ‘Kill This Love (1.5 billion views)’, ‘BOOMBAYAH (1.3 billion views)’, ‘As If It’s Your Last (1.1 billion views)’, the M/V and performance video for ‘How You Like That (1 billion views)’, and the M/V for JENNIE’s solo song ‘SOLO’, ‘WHISTLE’, ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’ with 700 million views.
‘Ice Cream’ garnered great attention from the beginning as it was a pop genre song with cute and refreshing concepts along with a simple and bubbly rhythm, which was a first for BLACKPINK. The group created great synergy with Selena Gomez through this song, and many believed BLACKPINK was able to expand their musical spectrum and secure more global fandom through this collaboration.
Right after the release, the song took the first place on iTunes Worldwide Chart, and renew the K-POP girl-group record by placing 13th on the U.S. Billboard Hot100, and stayed on the chart for 8 consecutive weeks.
BLACKPINK’s first full album ‘THE ALBUM’ which included this song placed 2nd on U.S. Billboard 200 and UK’s official album chart, also breaking its own record among K-POP girl groups.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK has a total of 32 videos which reached hundreds of millions of views. They currently have 72.1 million subscribers on YouTube, which is the greatest number of subscribers out of all artists around the world.
