BLACKPINK Releases 2nd Full Album ‘BORN PINK’…Expected to Rewrite History

BLACKPINK will release its second full album ‘BORN PINK’ at 1PM on the 16th. The album portrays the confidence the 4 members have in being born different. Their new album is expected to deepen the group’s discography with its unique musical color.
Their title-song ‘Shut Down’ is a song that will open up a new horizon for BLACKPINK’s music, by intersecting classic and hip-hop genres. Their sampling of Paganini’s ‘La Campanella’ and trendy hip-hop beats create an exquisite harmony, and the sharp violin sounds and heavy beat put together is expected to provide listeners with a new thrill.
The members’ solid vocals and dynamic rapping also maximizes the mysterious atmosphere the song. Their confident attitude and direct lyrics add life to the already dark, heavy atmosphere of the song.
According to YG Entertainment, the largest production cost was put in YG history for the music video. The M/V is exepcted to portray BLACKPINK’s music and performance in an addictive way, as it was shot on a overwhelmingly large set and boasts extravagent videography. The objects representing the musical journey BLACKPINK has walked so far also grabs attention.
A total of 8 songs were included in the album which portrays BLACKPINK’s identity. Including the pre-release single ‘Pink Venom’, their title song ‘Shutdown’, ‘Typa Girl’, which has an addictive brass tone chorus adding special flavor to the music, ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah’, a song which has an 80s retro sound which JISOO and ROSÉ took part in the lyrics, ‘Hard to Love’, which shows the perfect harmoney between lyrical guitar reef and intense beats, ‘The Happiest Girl’ which is a lyrical ballad number showing BLACKPINK’s mature emotions, and ‘Tally’, which has both elements of hip-hop and rock. Thanks to the enthusiastic love from fans, their in-game concert special track ‘Ready For Love’ was also included in the track list.
Attention is also being drawn to what kind of records BLACKPINK will break. They already swept various top global charts such as Billboard, Spotify, YouTube, and British Official with its pre-released song ‘Pink Venom’, breaking their very own ‘first, highest, most’ record they made as a K-POP girl group.
With pre-orders for ‘BORN PINK’ exceeding 2 million copies, attention is being drwan to whether the group will be the first double million seller as a K-pop girl group. As ‘Pink Venom’ has shown explosive popularity, their title song ‘Shutdown’ is expected to continue this momentum.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will head to North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania after kicking off their mega-scale world tour at KSPO Dome in Seoul Olympic Park on October 15 and 16 to meet with BLINKS around the world.
