[일간스포츠=박세연 기자] BABYMONSTER has once again proven its immense popularity on YouTube.

According to YG Entertainment (hereafter YG) on the 18th, BABYMONSTER’s official YouTube channel surpassed 12 million subscribers at approximately 6:30 PM the previous day.

It took only about two years and two months since the group’s official debut on April 1, 2024, making it the fastest record among all K-pop girl groups in history to reach the milestone based on debut date.

BABYMONSTER has continued its steep rise in popularity on YouTube, joining the ranks of channels with 10 million subscribers last year. The group surprised everyone with its overwhelming achievement of ranking No. 1 among fifth-generation girl groups and No. 3 among all K-pop girl groups overall. The fact that BABYMONSTER continues to firmly maintain that position suggests the group is steadily expanding its influence even further.

In particular, the upward momentum became even more noticeable after the release of the group’s third mini album “CHOOM” on the 4th. According to the agency, the group gained approximately 250,000 additional subscribers in just 13 days through the 17th, attracting nearly 20,000 subscribers per day on average. The agency explained, “This comeback has become a powerful catalyst for attracting new fans.”

The title track “CHOOM” is also continuing its explosive popularity on YouTube. Immediately upon release, the music video shot to No. 1 on YouTube Worldwide Trending and entered the “Most Viewed Videos in 24 Hours” chart, signaling strong global popularity early on. It also surpassed 15 million views within just half a day of release and is now approaching 100 million views with its steady upward trajectory.

In addition, BABYMONSTER’s performances of “CHOOM” on various music programs have received enthusiastic responses, leading to increased views across the group’s YouTube content ecosystem and creating a virtuous cycle driven purely by the members’ talent and performance skills.

Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER will embark on its second world tour beginning in Seoul this coming June, spanning 27 shows across 18 cities. The tour will visit six cities in Japan (Kobe, Fukuoka, Yokohama, Chiba, Nagoya, and Osaka), eight cities across Asia (Manila, Macau, Jakarta, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Singapore, and Hong Kong), and three cities in Oceania (Auckland, Melbourne, and Sydney). Additional tour dates in Europe, North America, and South America are also expected to be announced later.
