YG’s “Ultimate Weapon Girl,” BABYMONSTER’s Second World Tour “CHOOM”

[스포츠동아 = 장은지 기자] BABYMONSTER, the ultimate weapon of “performance powerhouse” YG Entertainment, has stepped onto a true proving ground to demonstrate that DNA. The girl group BABYMONSTER held their world tour “CHOOM” at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul for three days from the 26th, embarking on the grand journey of their second world tour.
BABYMONSTER is the girl group YG introduced seven years after BLACKPINK, and they drew explosive attention even before their debut. Both inside and outside the industry, they are regarded as a group that brings together YG’s signature strengths, represented by “extreme live performance.”
If their first world tour revealed their potential to grow into a “world class” act, this “CHOOM” tour gives the impression that they are raising their stature even further as they seek to expand their scale. BABYMONSTER’s second world tour “CHOOM” will be held across 18 cities and 29 shows on five continents, including Asia and North America, as well as Oceania, Europe, and South America, which they will visit for the first time since their debut.

Backed by their strong digital performance, including music videos that have surpassed 100 million cumulative views, BABYMONSTER also shows a clear ambition to solidify their position as “performance queens” by adding the concert capabilities that are considered one of YG’s signature driving forces for success.
As its title suggests, this concert foreshadowed the essence of performance and highlighted BABYMONSTER’s unique stage presence. Opening with “WE GO UP,” a song filled with bold ambition, the stage was completed with a wide range of live performances, including the hip-hop track “SHEESH,” which announced their unrivaled presence, the old-school hip-hop song “HOT SAUCE,” and “SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA,” known for its appealing electronic sound.
BABYMONSTER’s rapid growth from “monster rookies” into “performance monsters” stood out even more thanks to YG’s concert system. Examples include dynamic live sound and stage direction that heightened immersion.
For their second world tour, the members’ level of participation has also increased. It is said that they were actively involved throughout the production process, from selecting the setlist to arranging each song and shaping the direction. In line with this, BABYMONSTER shared the planning intention behind the concert, saying that if the first tour was a place to show their potential, “this concert was designed to become a festival where we connect closely with our fandom as a more grown version of ourselves.”
