YG’s war on malicious comments begins by suing a long-wanted troll
[일간스포츠 엄동진] YG Entertainment declared war on trolls leaving malicious comments.
YG Entertainment announced on Sept 27 that it sued a troll who has been leaving malicious comments on its artists for years. This is quite different to how the entertainment agency has responded until now—YG did not bother with them since they thought teenagers wrote the comments. This shows that YG will legally respond to malevolent comments from now on.
According to YG, the troll in case left spiteful comments every time a piece of news on the artists and the agency was uploaded in July. This led YG to lodge a complaint to Mapo Police Station, which tracked down the troll by monitoring his IP address. When arrested, the troll admitted to his crime.
For years, the troll in case has been leaving malicious comments on the artists and spread false rumors. The comments go beyond vengeful, which severely dented the reputation of the artists. The comments were continuous and countless, and its spiteful nature led YG to respond legally in order to protect the company and the artists. Mapo Police Station tracked down the troll for 2 months before extracting a confession.
The arrested troll admitted in writing, “I started leaving these comments a few years ago, just to inflict my anger rooted from my personal matters on YG. I was addicted to doing it. I apologize and promise this will never happen again.”
YG was fairly tolerant of malicious comments until now as they knew most of them were written by teenagers. But starting with this case, YG has strengthened their stance and declared that they will respond legally to any similar matters.
