[뉴스엔 황혜진 기자] 2NE1 expressed their respect for pop star Stevie Wonder.

In an interview at a restaurant located in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on November 25, 2NE1 (CL, BOM, DARA, & MINZY) talked about what they felt at “2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards” (2013 MAMA).

2NE1 disclosed performance of their new single “MISSING YOU” for the first time on the stage of “2013 MAMA”, which was held at Asia World Expo Arena (AWE) in Hong Kong, on the 22 this month. 2NE1 said, “Actually, we heard the fact that we were to disclose the first performance of “MISSING YOU” on the stage of 2013 MAMA three days before our departure to Hong Kong. We didn’t have even a week for preparation. The performance was actually unsatisfactory. I think the producer who prepared it with us felt the same.”

2NE1 went on to say their resolution, “We wanted to prepare more and show you a wonderful performance, since that was the first one. The first performance was somewhat unsatisfactory, but we staged the second performance in SBS “INKIGAYO” on the 24, and have plenty of performances to show. We will show you good music and performances.

Notably, CL drew much attention by presenting a joint performance with Icona Pop at 2013 MAMA. On the stage, Icona Pop sang their hit songs including “All Right’ and “I Love It” and CL appeared on the stage in the middle of their performance, to show a fascinating rap with bold charisma and colorful stage presence.

2NE1 disclosed a behind story with American singer-song writer-cum-record producer Stevie Wonder. Stevie Wonder is a top musician who has won 21 Grammy awards by making a number of songs hit, since his debut with first album “Fingertips” in 1963. Stevie Wonder staged a duet performance of “I Just Called To Say I Love You” with SISTAR’s Hyorin on the stage of 2013 MAMA, and was also acclaimed by the audience for his passionate performance of “Lately”, “Isn’t She Lovely”, and “Superstition”.

CL said, “I met Stevie Wonder at 2013 MAMA and had a lot of conversation with him. He personally gave me many words of good advice. Listening to him, I thought that we have been using the power of music for other purposes rather than for sharing love. I reflected on myself on that side a lot.”

CL added, “Stevie Wonder is a person who has a great and broad-minded view of the world. I thought a lot of things, seeing his mind that goes beyond that of ordinary people. As a musician, having a boyfriend and relationship is very important, but I came to think that I want to use the power of music for bigger purposes, too. Spreading warmth to as many people as possible and making them unite is something that only music can do. I want to do such things with my music, and that is my concept of love.”

Meanwhile, 2NE1 will meet fans around the world in a world tour once again, two years after their first world tour in 2012, which was an unprecedented event for a Korean girl group. Starting in Seoul in March, 2014, 2NE1’s world tour concert will be held in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, and so on.
