AKDONG MUSICIAN recognized in the pro world: Tops 9 charts
[OSEN=박현민 기자] The power of the sibling duo AKDONG MUSICIAN (AKMU) has proved itself in the music world. Their title song “200%” topped major real-time music charts while other tracks also filled the ranking lists.
“200%,” which was unveiled at noon of April 7, seized the top rank in 9 major music sites including Melon, Mnet.com, Bugs, Olleh Music, Soribada and Genie just 2 hours after its release. The song is a runner-up on Cyworld Music, geared to knock down the 10th chart.
Other songs in the album like “MELTED” (another title song), “GIVE LOVE,” “ARTIFICIAL GRASS,” “ON THE SUBWAY,” “HAIR PART,” “LITTLE STAR,” “DON’T HATE ME,” “ANYWAY,” “GALAXY” and “IDEA” are also ranked in the top range: a powerful accomplishment that only a very limited number of artists can achieve.
“200%,” one of the triple title songs of AKMU’s debut album, is a vivacious and rhythmical love song that very wittily talks about being too nervous to say anything in front of a person you love after preparing a love confession all night. It’s a sentiment unique to AKMU. Classy rapping and LEE SOO HYUN’s refreshing voice harmonizes perfectly.
In the song’s music video that was unveiled at 0 hour of the same day, LEE SOO HYUN tries out acting by playing the main character. Filmed in Japan’s Okinawa where the scent of spring is prominent amongst the greenery, LEE SOO HYUN endearingly plays a role of a naïve girl who is eager to confess her love to a boy.
Related personnel said, “LEE SOO HYUN’s acting was unexpectedly well done, so we breezed through without retakes.” South Korea’s recently rising model NAM JOO HYUK plays the handsome boy, showing good harmony with LEE SOO HYUN.
Directed YONG IH, the music video portrays the naivety of a girl expressing her love for a boy who is already taken through folding love hearts with colored paper. The first part of the clip shows the girl imagining happy thoughts about the boy, while the latter brings a twist where she realizes the love is unrequited.
