AKMU Tops ‘Album/Artist Top20’ for 5 Consecutive Weeks, Demonstrating Their Potential
[OSEN=박현민 기자] AKDONG MUSICIAN (AKMU) showed their remarkable potential by ranking first on ‘Artist Top 20’ and ‘Album Top 20’ on Melon, the biggest music-streaming website of Korea, for five weeks in a row.
In the first week after releasing their digital album (April 7 – 13), AKMU took the first place on Melon’s ‘Artist Top 20’ and ‘Album Top 20’, and remained at the top until the second week of May (May 5 – 11), defending the top spot for five consecutive weeks.
Considering the fact that 2NE1 had taken the top place on ‘Artist Top 20’ and ‘Album Top 20’ for six weeks in a row before AKMU’s album was released, YG Entertainment’s musicians remained at the top on both charts for 11 consecutive weeks by taking the first place in turn.
LEE CHAN HYUK composed, produced and wrote lyrics of all the songs of AKMU’s debut album ‘PLAY’, and the album is receiving good reviews as a well-made one and being loved by music fans for a long time.
AKMU’s “200%” took the top place even on a TV music show that had been cancelled in mourning for the sinking of ferry Sewol. The duo also earned Triple Crowns by sweeping the top spot for three weeks in a row on Mnet’s ‘M-Countdown’ and SBS ‘Inkigayo’ at the same time.
Meanwhile, AKMU will start the TV performance of “GIVE LOVE”, the third title track, on Mnet’s ‘M-Countdown’ on the 15.
