YANG HYUN SUK Explains about “MIX & MATCH”… “The Name of YG’s New Boy Group Is iKON”
[TV리포트=김가영 기자] YG Entertainment’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK has unveiled the name of YG’s new boy group and its meaning.
Press meeting of Mnet’s “MIX & MATCH” was held on the 2 this month, at Grand Ballroom of Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. YANG HYUN SUK attended the press meeting to explain about “MIX & MATCH”.
YANG HYUN SUK said, “The name of YG’s new boy group to be selected through ‘MIX & MATCH’ is iKON”. “The actual spelling of the word is icon, but we change c with k, in a meaning of spreading Korean culture worldwide”, added he.
YANG HYUN SUK went on to say, “PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ created an unexpected sensation. We will continue to see unexpected things. I hope iKON would become a singer who can represent Korea”.
Plus, YANG expressed his special affection for MIX & MATCH by saying, “I’ll exclude all my personal feelings from the audition. I feel like I’m selecting the national team”.
“MIX & MATCH” is a survival audition program in which candidates compete to be the member of YG’s new boy group by mixing and matching their talents, charms, and characters to the best. Total nine candidates including the members of Team B of 2013’s YG survival show “WHO IS NEXT: WIN” (B.I, BOBBY, KIM JIN HWAN, SONG YUN HYEONG, KOO JUN HOE, and KIM DONG HYUK), as well as three new YG trainees (JUNG JINHYEONG, JUNG CHANWOO, and YANG HONGSEOK) will appear in “MIX & MATCH”.
