YG Took No.1 in Brand Value Evaluation in Entertainment Business Segment

[OESN=김사라 기자] YG Entertainment took the No.1 in the entertainment industry segment of brand value evaluation.

According to brand value evaluation company Brandstock’s BSTI(Brandstock Top Index) as of April 27, YG is recording total 800.8 points in brand value, which is the No.1 in the enterprise industry. SM Entertainment is following YG in the second place, recording 772.9 points.

YG Entertainment is managing top musicians including JINUSEAN, BIGBANG, PSY, 2NE1, EPIK HIGH, AKMU, and WINNER, as well as actors such as YOO IN NA, CHA SEUNG WON, KU HYE SUN, CHOI JI WOO, JUNG HYE YOUNG, and LEE SUNG KYUNG. Along with the management of those stars’ performances in and out of the country, YG has been building its brand in earnest recently, by launching fashion brand NONA9ON and cosmetic brand MOONSHOT. Lately, YG has also announced that it will expand into the game industry, in collaboration with Hanbit Soft.

Meanwhile, in the multiplex segment of BSTI, Lotte Cinema (847.8) topped the list by surpassing CGV (833.7) by a narrow margin. Lotte also took the No.1 in the theme park segment (Lotte World Adventure) and the hotel segment (Lotte Hotel), taking the triple crown.

In the business hotel segment, Shilla Hotel’s brand Shilla Stay became the No.1 by gaining 690.6 points. In the resort segment, High1 Resort(841.7) took the No.1 by surpassing Daemyung Resort (807.5) and Hanhwa Resort (802.8).

BSTI is a brand value evaluation model that combines brand stock price index (70%) formed through mock stock transactions at Brandstock Exchange on 1,000 leading brands in different business segments in Korea, and Consumer Survey Index (30%). The full score of BSTI is 1,000 points.
