[Music Talk Talk] iKON sweeps music charts… Proven to be worthwhile to waiting for
[OSEN=박판석 기자] Group iKON’s “MY TYPE” released upon the team’s debut took the No.1 on the real-time chart of eight music-streaming websites. The reason behind such record popularity of the team’s debut song seems to be the appeal of the song “MY TYPE” and great support from fans who have been waiting for iKON’s debut for two years.
iKON’s debut song “MY TYPE” released on the 15 at midnight is in the No.1 place on the real-time chart of eight major music-streaming websites including Melon, Genie, NAVER Music, Soribada, Mnet, Monkey 3, and Bugs.
“MY TYPE” was rather an unexpected type of song. People have speculated that iKON will present a song with an intense beat and fancy performance for their debut because it took so long for their debut. However, iKON came back with “MY TYPE”, a tender and sweet love song that makes iKON members look like a sweet boyfriend. Plus, iKON’s voice that sings the lyrics “you’re my type” is hard to forget.
iKON has drawn keen attention from even before their debut, being called “the next-generation leader of YG”. They got opportunity for debut in Mnet’s “WIN” show in 2013 and in “MIX & MATCH” show in 2014. Even though the members went through harsh training process, they were trained once again until all of them got sufficient songwriting skills. It took more than two years. Maybe, fans’ waiting for such a long time for iKON’s debut is one of the factors for the team’s record success on charts.
Now that iKON has made a successful debut, they will release half album on the 1 of next month and full album on November 2. Notably, the 12 songs in the team’s debut album “WELCOME BACK” are all written by the members themselves. iKON will hold debut showcase “SHOWTIME” on October 3 at 6pm.
