iKON’s Debut Single Becomes No.1 on All Weekly Charts and Its MV is Soon to Surpass 5 Million Views
[일간스포츠=황미현 기자] iKON’s new single “MY TYPE” has swept not only all the real-time and daily charts but also all the weekly charts.
According to the charts results for the second week of September announced on the 21st, “MY TYPE” took the No.1 spot on the charts of eight music streaming sites: Melon, Bugs Music, Mnet, Genie, Soribada, Naver Music, Olleh Music, and Monkey3. iKON proved that they are indeed a “monster rookie” by sweeping all the weekly charts.
iKON’s “MY TYPE” was released at 12 AM on September 15. As soon as it was released, the song dominated all the real-time and daily charts. “MY TYPE” also became No.1 on the iTunes singles charts of Hong Kong, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam reflecting iKON’s worldwide popularity.
The MV for “MY TYPE”, which was released along with the song, posted 4,629,367 views on Youtube, and it only a matter of time until the MV reaches five million views. The MV for iKON’s “MY TYPE” took the No.1 spot on the MV Chart and K-POP MV Chart of QQ Music – China’s biggest music streaming site. Reflecting their huge popularity, iKON became the most searched word on Weibo, China’s biggest SNS service, and the word “iKON” has been searched 1.3 billion times.
Meanwhile, iKON is to release their “DEBUT HALF WELCOME BACK” album on October 1. B.I and BOBBY participated in writing the music and the lyrics of the title track “WELCOME BACK”. Expectations are high for the tracks in the new album and for iKON’s official debut.
iKON will be releasing their “’DEBUT HALF ALBUM WELCOME BACK” on October 1 and “DEBUT FULL ALBUM WELCOME BACK” on November 2. They will also be holding their debut concert “SHOWTIME” on October 3 at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium in Seoul and meet their fans for the first time after their official debut.
