[Exclusive] WINNER’s performance for new album has been officially halted… Preparing for an “unprecedented” secret project
[OSEN=박소영 기자] WINNER has halted their performance for new album temporarily.
According to a high-ranking official of YG on the 10 this month, WINNER has halted their official performance for their new album from March 9. The reason why has not been unveiled. YG’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK made WINNER members to take a break for a while. Fans are keenly curious about whether WINNER is preparing for another project.
WINNER came back to the music scene on the 1 last month after one year and five months of absence, with new mini-album “EXIT:E”. WINNER has been performing “SENTIMENTAL” and “”BABY BABY” in the new album. WINNER took No.1 on a variety of music charts upon the release of the album and both of the two title songs have enjoyed big popularity for a long time, proving WINNER’s big potential.
Before WINNER’s official comeback, YG Entertainment unveiled a year-long plan for WINNER. Pre-release song “PRICKED” was released on January 11 as scheduled in the plan and the mini-album was also released as planned. There still are three plans yet to be unveiled, in the year-long WINNER project. Therefore, people think that WINNER may now be preparing for their third comeback for the new album.
However, WINNER will hold their first concert “WINNER EXIT TOUR IN SEOUL” on March 12 and 13 at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Olympic Park, Seoul, as planned. On April 2 and 23, WINNER will also hold concert in Daegu and Busan, respectively, to see fans in those cities.
WINNER took the music scene by storm with “empty”, the title track of debut album “2014 S/S” released in August, 2014. During a long time of absence from the music scene, WINNER members wrote more than 60 songs by themselves, and those quality songs filled WINNER’s second album that was released last month. “SENTIMENTAL” and “BABY BABY”, the title tracks of the new album, were both written by NAM TAEHYUN.
That is why many pop-music fans are paying keen attention to WINNER’s next moves. People have a big interest in what kind of “unprecedentedly” good new songs will be presented by WINNER. Even though it will be difficult to see WINNER on TV for some time being, fans still have an opportunity to see them in the concert. When also considering the fact that WINNER is highly likely to come back again soon with even better songs, the time of waiting for WINNER would not be all boring.
