iKON proves to be the new trend of Korean Wave in Japan… Record of album sales surpassing 120,000

[일간스포츠=김인영 기자] iKON has proven its status as the new trend of Korean Wave.
iKON released repackage album “WELCOME BACK – COMPLETE EDITION” in Japan on the 30 last month. When including debut album “WELCOME BACK” released on January 13 this year, iKON is now setting a very exceptional record for a rookie by surpassing 120,000 sales of their albums.
The new repackage album includes six more songs than debut album, along with the songs that were in the debut album. The new songs are “ANTHEM(remix)”, Japanese versions of “DUMB&DUMBER”, “WHAT’S WRONG?”, “I MISS YOU SO BAD”, and “RHYTHM TA”, as well as “JUST GO” which has never been released so far. Even though it is a repackage album, it took No.1 on Japan’s biggest music-streaming website Recochoku and iTunes. It also took fourth place on Oricon’s daily albums chart.
iKON drew big attention when they took No.1 on Oricon’s daily albums chart upon the release of their debut album in Japan in January this year. Then, iKON proved its big popularity in Japan by successfully hosting their first arena tour that drew total 146,000 fans to 14 concerts in five cities from February and March.
iKON has successfully rounded off their Japan arena tour recently. Now, iKON is expanding the scale of their tour, holding their first Asian tour “iKONCERT 2016 [SHOWTIME] TOUR” within six months of debut. The Asian tour will kick off on the 22 this month at “TAIPEI ARENA” in Taiwan. Then, the second concert of the tour will be held on May 7 at “ASIAWORLD-EXPO” on May 7.
