“Half-moon Friends” is not Just a Show about WINNER Rearing Children
[OSEN=강서정 기자] WINNER teamed up with children this time. WINNER members spent 15 days with children, and it was a chance to interact and soothe each other’s loneliness. Viewers will laugh and cry while watching WINNER members make precious memories with children.
WINNER members became friends with children for 15 days on JTBC’s new variety show “Half-moon Friends.” The members, whose average age is 23, are given the task of rearing children from the age of four to seven.
The production press conference of JTBC’s new variety show “Half-moon Friends” took place at the JTBC building in Sangam-dong, Seoul on April 21. Kim Soo-a, the director of the show, KIM JINWOO, SONG MINHO, KANG SEUNGYOON, LEE SEUNGHOON, and NAM TAEHYUN were at the press conference.
“Half-moon Friends” is not just an ordinary child-rearing TV show. Of course, WINNER members take care of the children, but the show focuses on how the cast gets healed in the process. It’s not a child-rearing show, but rather a documentary about friendship.
“Half-moon Friends” is co-produced by JTBC and YG Entertainment, and for the first time as a variety show, it is 100% pre-made. WINNER had to stop all their music-related activities and focus on shooting the show for five weeks. Usually, the cast of child-rearing variety shows only needs to shoot the show once in a week or every other week. But because WINNER members and the children needed to spend some time together to bond, the shooting of “Half-moon Friends” was 100 % completed before the show’s premier date.
The children of “Half-moon Friends” all have working parents or are raised by their grandparents. Many viewers will be able to related to the hardships of child-rearing when watching the show as they do when watching KBS 2TV’s “Happy Sunday: The Return of Superman”, and the show is expected to have a healing effect.
The director of the show, Kim Soo-a, commented, “I wanted to see what happens when you make people who have no experience in child-rearing spend 15 days with children and to see how much they change. I wasn’t sure whether WINNER members would be able to develop true feelings, but I think they did. I received so much positive energy from WINNER, and they made me think about the way young people go about their life.”
WINNER’s KANG SEUNGYOON said, “We didn’t raise children in Bandal Land, we became their friends. It was a valuable experience in that we were able to make them feel less lonely. After doing the show, I thought that when I become a dad, I will spend a lot of time with my children and make many good memories with them.”
NAM TAEHYUN commented, “I changed a lot after the show. Before, I had difficulties in talking with people because I’m a very introverted person. But the thing I learned while shooting ‘Half-moon Friends’ is that when you talk to children, you can communicate better when you talk at their level. So I learned that when you talk to others, you should look straight into their eyes and try to see things from their perspective.”
Meanwhile, “Half-moon Friends” premieres at 9:40 PM on April 23.
