– WINNER to become a four-member group

– Signed contracts with CL and DARA as solo artists

The following is the official announcement of YG Entertainment on WINNER’s NAM TAE HYUN and 2NE1.

– WINNER’s NAM TAE HYUN

WINNER was to make a comeback this year. Unfortunately, due to NAM TAE HYUN’s mental issues, WINNER has been on a break for several months now.

YG and the rest of WINNER members considered NAM TAE HYUN’s health as the no.1 priority and were waiting for him to get well.

However, after consulting with NAM TAE HYUN on the matter, YG decided that he could no longer be part of the group as he has been suffering from mental illnesses since he was a child and it is hard to predict when he can recover. YG hereby announces that its management contract with NAM TAE HYUN is terminated as of November 18.

YG made such a decision because NAM TAE HYUN felt a lot of pressure thinking that he is a burden to the group and because WINNER, a group that debuted only two years ago, should not be held back any longer.

Although NAM TAE HYUN is no longer a member of the team, YG hopes that NAM TAE HYUN and the rest of WINNER members will remain as fellow artists and support each other.

There will not be any new members joining the group, and YG will get WINNER ready to start again as a four member group. YG would like to ask for your support for the new four-member WINNER and NAM TAE HYUN.

– Official Disbandment of 2NE1

YG’s contract with 2NE1 ended in May 2016, and MINZI decided to leave the group. After much consultation with rest of the members, YG has decided to officially disband 2NE1.

2NE1 has been YG’s signature girl group for the past seven years, so YG is deeply saddened to let them go. However, it is better for 2NE1 members to continue on with their careers as solo artists rather than as a group.

YG would like to thank all those in and out of Korea who have loved 2NE1 members and music.

YG hereby announces that it signed a management contract with CL and DARA as solo artists after May but did not renew its contract with BOM.

The above is an official announcement made by YG Entertainment.
