AKMU Says, “We don’t take no.1 place for granted, and we’re honored that our songs made it on the charts in between Infinite Challenge songs and BIGBANG’s songs.”

AKMU delivered again. Everyone takes it for granted that AKMU’s music will always be great. This may come as a burden to the sibling duo, but the public is raving about the new album made by 22-year old LEE CHAN HYUK and 19-year old LEE SU HYUN once again.
AKMU released “WINTER” album on January 3. The album was released eight months after the “SPRING” album. Upon release, the songs in the album are dominating the charts. This is possible because all the tracks in the album are good enough to be title tracks.
OSEN interviewed LEE CHAN HYUK on January 4, and he said, “I couldn’t decide between whether I should do the music I like or the music people want. It was especially hard for me to decide when making this album. But in the end, I decided to do the music I like.”
“WINTER” album consists of eight tracks: Live, Reality, Last goodbye, Play Ugly, CHOCOLADY, YOU KNOW ME, Way Back Home, and Will Last Forever. All the songs are written and composed by LEE CHAN HYUK.
The original plan was to release the album without any title tracks. But YG staff all agreed that “Last goodbye” was the greatest and the song’s teaser video also received a good response. In the end, AKMU decided to make “Last goodbye” the title track. The song is sweeping the charts, proving that AKMU made the right decision.
LEE SU HYUN smiled and said, “When we were deciding when to release the album, we did consider the release date of MBC Infinite Challenge’s songs. But we couldn’t keep on dodging. I really like the songs, and I enjoyed listening to them. I’m honored that our songs made it on the charts in between Infinite Challenge songs and BIGBANG’s songs.”
People have high expectations for AKMU, and this can be a burden. That’s why they put in a lot thought into making this album. However, they worked around it and ended up making the most satisfactory album ever. AKMU’s goal is not just topping the charts.
LEE CHAN HYUK and LEE SU HYUN said, “We say to ourselves this is a great album. We read a comment that went, ‘For AKMU, chart results have no meaning’. We’re really thankful. We focused on doing the music we like rather than doing well on the charts, and this is why we’re most satisfied with this album.”
AKMU will be putting on a comeback stage singing “Last goodbye” and “Reality” on January 8 on SBS’s Inkigayo.
