[서울연합뉴스=이은정 기자] SECHSKIES, one of the first generation groups, has great plans for its 20th anniversary.

On April 15, SECKSKIES agency YG Entertainment announced that SECHESKIES will be releasing a new album, photo book, and DVD as well as hold an exhibition, concerts, and a fan meeting event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its debut.

This month, SECHSKIES will be releasing two new songs and music videos and hold an exhibition for their fans.

The group will also hold its first official fan meeting with “YELLOWKIES”, which was established last year upon their reunion last year, and hold concerts.

SECHSKIES debuted on April 15, 1997, and the group contributed to making the idol culture take root in Korea.

They were only active for three years, but during that time, SECHSKIES produced a number of hit songs such as “SCHOOL SONG”, “POMSAENGPOMSA”, and “COUPLE” and was at the forefront of building a new fan culture. However, on May 18, 2000, the group suddenly announced their breakup, which came as a big shock to their fans.

SECHSKIES reunited after 16 years after appearing on MBC’s Infinite Challenge. Their fans are all grown up now, but they were glad to see their teenage crush on TV again and welcomed their comeback.

YG commented, “The reunion of SECHSKIES provides a new direction for idol groups that are commonly perceived as short lived.”
