[Pop Up ★] MINO Becomes the Cherry on the Cake in New Journey To The West 4
[헤럴드POP=박수인 기자] MINO’s decision to join New Journey To The West cast was a good one, and now he has become a real asset to the show.
The fourth season of tvN’s New Journey To The West has just begun. The show first aired in September 2015, and during the past two years, three seasons were aired on TV. The production staff recruited Ahn Jae Hyun to replace Lee Seung Ki after season 1, and from season 3, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and WINNER’s MINO joined the cast to bring some young energy to the show.
When the news got out that MINO was to appear on the show, many people were surprised. He did not have much experience in variety shows, and it was unsure whether he would fit in well with the older cast members.
But, as always, Na Young Suk’s hunch was right, and people’s concerns were unfounded. He was the “dork” between the “crazies” and the “wackos”. His biggest hit until then was his song “FEAR” in Mnet’s Show Me The Money 4. However, after joining the show, his dorkiness became his biggest charm.
It was indeed a wise decision for MINO to join New Journey To The West cast. He established a strong presence with his unique dorkiness. More people got to know him not as a member of WINNER but as MINO, and he received many love calls from variety show producers.
MINO announced earlier on that he will be different in season 4. MINO in season 3 was a like a buffer zone between the “crazies” and the “wackos”. But even from the first episode of season 4, MINO stood out as a strong character after he shaved half his hair off after losing in a table tennis match. Everyone knew that Kang Ho Dong would win, but MINO was fearless and refused to give up.
MINO has earned a new strong image after shaving off half of his hair, and it seems like he is going to be the cherry on the cake in the season 4 of New Journey To The West. It will be interesting to see how he will evolve as the show goes on and how he will charm the viewers.
