YG TREASURE, “Felt Good Wearing Hanbok in a While… Will Spend the Holidays Safely”
[OSEN=김은애 기자] TREASURE is definitely the biggest and brightest K-Pop rookie group who debuted this year. After debuting on August, they became a popular group by grabbing the hearts of global fans.
TREASURE is YG Entertainment’s fourth boy group following BIGBANG·WINNER·iKON, and is a group presented by the agency in 4 years since BLACKPINK. Composed of 12 members CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, and SO JUNG HWAN, the group already has a sturdy fandom in and out of Korea.
Thanks to the fans’ support, TREASURE released their second single album ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER TWO’ on September 18 and are increasing in popularity at a fast pace.
The title song ‘I LOVE YOU’ topped iTunes Top Song charts in 9 different countries on the date of its release, as well as being placed on the top ranks of Line Music, Japan’s biggest music platform, and Rakuten Music, proving their strength as the ‘monster rookies’. This year’s Chuseok will be a meaningful holiday for the 12 members of TREASURE. We asked them how they will spend the Chuseok holidays this year.
Q. You wore hanbok for the fans during the Chuseok Special ‘TREASURE MAP’ episode. How was it?
CHOI HYUN SUK: It felt like wearing the style beauty of our country, so it felt good. I learned about our country’s coolness.
JIHOON: There aren’t many opportunities to wear hanbok in life, but it was very comfortable and made me feel interested in hanbok after wearing it in quite a while.
JUNKYU: It was comfortable. The clothing was soft and made me feel good.
MASHIHO: It was comfortable and cool, so I didn’t have to sweat. It was fresh.
YOON JAE HYUK: The filming was fun, and it felt different and good wearing hanbok in quite a while.
ASAHI: I wore hanbok in green, which was fresh and pretty.
BANG YE DAM: After wearing hanbok, the skinny clothes I usually wore felt stuffy.
HARUTO: It was similar yet different from Japanese clothes.
PARK JEONG WOO: I wore hanbok in a while, and it was comfortable and pretty.
SO JUNG HWAN: I felt awkward since I wore it in quite a while, but it was pretty.
Q. What will you do during Chuseok?
CHOI HYUN SUK: I usually make Chuseok food with the family. I met my relatives often, but I will share greetings through the phone this time due to the COVID19. The agency gave us a break, so I will do what I wanted to do. I will enjoy my daily life and play with the members.
JIHOON: Our family will keep the quarantine rules and spend the holidays safely.
YOSHI: I will practice writing lyrics and eat delicious food.
JUNKYU: I will sleep to recharge my energy, and plan to eat delicious food.
MASHIO: I will visit homes of Korean members and have a good time. I’m already excited.
YOON JAE HYUK: I will spend time comfortably in my home and accommodation. It’s a long break in quite a while. I feel like I’ll do things freely depending on my mood.
ASAHI: I will work on songs at the accommodation or make nabe dish with Japanese members.
BANG YE DAM: I will take a break, watch movies at home, and work on my hobbies I couldn’t spend time on.
DOYOUNG: I will meet our members from Japan, have food together, and take a break for our next activities.
HARUTO: I will work on music at the accommodation.
PARK JEONG WOO: I will spend time with the family and have time to recharge myself.
SO JUNG HWAN: I will eat delicious food with my family. Thanks to the agency’s consideration, the training room is restricted(?) so I will focus on taking ‘rest’.
