TREASURE to Appear on ‘M Countdown’ in 4 Years and 2 Months As a YG Artist… Will Perform ‘MY TREASURE’·’GOING CRAZY’
[헤럴드POP=박서연 기자] While rookie group TREASURE is dominating various global charts, they will appear on Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’ today.
According to YG Entertainment on January 14, TREASURE will perform the title song ‘MY TREASURE’ and ‘GOING CRAZY’ from their official debut album at Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’ being broadcasted at 6 PM.
It is TREASURE’s first-ever appearance on ‘M Countdown’. It has more meaning than simply a comeback performance. It is because it has been approximately 4 years and 2 months since an artist from YG appeared on ‘M Countdown’, since BLACKPINK back in November 2016.
YG has refused to appear on Mnet for the past few years, but a change was spotted as TREASURE appeared on the recently held 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards(MAMA).
In fact, many people have been anticipating, ‘Is it now possible to see artists of YG through Mnet’. TREASURE’s appearance on ‘M Countdown’ will be the beginning of that.
YG explained, “Since TREASURE’s title track ‘MY TREASURE’ is a song with a positive message of strengthening up and getting over hard times, we wanted to pass on our sincerity through as many music broadcast programs as we can”.
TREASURE is receiving favorable reviews for their matured musical capabilities and broadened spectrum shown on their official debut album, ‘THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT’.
The title song ‘MY TREASURE’ from the album topped real-time charts of Japanese music platforms as soon as its release on January 11 at 6 PM and is maintaining its position on the top ranks. The song also topped iTunes charts in 18 different countries.
The song has topped Japan Rakuten Music’s Real-time Comprehensive Rankings for 3 consecutive days, on the 12th, 13th, and 14th. ‘GOING CRAZY’, the signal song of ‘YG TREASURE BOX’, has topped the according chart on the 11th, which was an unexpected surprise.
The album also topped the Korea’s Hanteo Charts and the Line Music Albums Top 100 Chart in real-time sales for 2 consecutive days, making the people look forward to their upcoming activities.
The global fans are paying keen attention to what kind of performances TREASURE will present on stage to capture the hearts of fans, leading to attention on the group’s upcoming schedule.
YG stated, “TREASURE will appear on MBC ‘Show! Music Core’ on Saturday(16th) and on SBS ‘Inkigayo’ on Sunday(17th) following their appearance on ‘M Countdown’ today”. They added, “They will begin their full-scale promotion for their official debut album, which was prepared for a long period of time. Please look forward to it”.
