YG TREASURE at No. 1 on Billboard Japan… Wins ‘5 Crowns’ on Major Album Rankings
[OSEN=선미경 기자] YG’s rookie group TREASURE achieved winning 5 titles on major Japanese weekly album charts including the Oricon, Line Music, and Billboard Japan.
TREASURE’s Japanese debut album ‘THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT’ has topped Billboard Japan’s comprehensive albums chart titled ‘Hot Albums’ and its weekly album sales chart(3/29/2021~4/4/2021) announced on the 7th.
TREASURE has also topped Japan Oricon’s Weekly Albums Chart and Weekly Comprehensive Album charts at the same period. They also topped the Album Chart of Line Music, the biggest music platform in Japan, for 7 consecutive weeks and therefore was ranked at no. 1 on the Weekly Rankings(3/31/2021~4/6/2021) as well.
As a result, TREASURE has won 5 album ranking titles. All charts they’ve topped are major charts acknowledged for their validation and popularity. The group has achieved success as a K-Pop rookie group who are yet to make active local promotional activities. They are expected to grow even more popular, with the local fans’ explosive interest towards the group.
After receiving attention as YG’s next-generation stars targeting the global market, TREASURE released their debut single album last year on August, in Korea. The group then released 4 albums of ‘THE FIRST STEP’ series for approximately 5 months under YG’s fast·concentrated strategy, and has reached a total of 1M in album sales.
TREASURE’s ‘THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT’ contains a total of 13 songs. The album includes 12 Japanese versions of songs that were locally popular despite the lyrics being Korean, in addition to the song ‘BEAUTIFUL’, which is a theme song from the animation ‘Black Clover’.
TREASURE shared thoughts on their recent success by stating, “We’ve earned so much energy, thanks to the fans’ love. We’ll never forget this moment and work hard to show our better selves”.
