BLACKPINK’s ‘THE ALBUM’ Japanese Version Tops Oricon Chart on the Date of its Release
[스타투데이=이다겸 기자] Group BLACKPINK conquered the Oricon chart with the Japanese version of their first full-length album, ‘THE ALBUM’.
According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s ‘THE ALBUM -JP Ver.-‘, released in Japan on the 3rd, has been ranked at no. 1 on the Oricon Daily Albums Chart. The album was also ranked at Japan’s Apple Music Top Albums Chart, noticing a popularity storm.
The songs also performed well in charts. The song ‘How You Like That’ pre-released prior to the release of the album and ‘Lovesick Girls’ have been placed on the top ranks of major music platforms including Line Music, AWA, and Japan iTunes, proving the local fans’ heated attention.
BLACKPINK has sold over 1.3M copies of ‘THE ALBUM’ released last year on October, becoming the first-ever K-Pop girl group million sellers(based on Hanteo/Gaon Charts).
As a result, they swept various global charts. ‘THE ALBUM’ was ranked at no. 1 on iTunes Album Charts in a total of 57 countries and was ranked at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and UK’s Official Charts, renewing their own best K-Pop girl group record.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will celebrate their 5-year debut anniversary on August 8. ‘BLACKPINK THE MOVIE’, a film celebrating the event, has globally premiered on the 4th in over 100 countries worldwide.
The special screening event of the film will be held on August 8 at 8:08 PM in CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall 4DX Screen and ScreenX. YG and CGV will gift reactive light sticks which will present various effects to BLACKPINK’s songs for the audience.
