BLACKPINK to Return as a Full Group After 3 Years… Comeback Set for February 27 with ‘DEADLINE’

[스포츠월드=정가영 기자] BLACKPINK is officially returning as a full group for the first time in three years, with a new album set to drop on February 27.
On the 15th, YG Entertainment posted a teaser for BLACKPINK’s 3rd MINI ALBUM [DEADLINE] on its official blog, signaling the start of the group’s comeback promotions.
The teaser video begins with a streak of pink light, the group’s signature color, cutting through darkness at rapid speed, leaving behind a glowing trail. A build-up of accelerating sound adds to the thrill and tension. It ends by confirming the album release on February 27 at 1 PM (KST).
The album title, DEADLINE, is the same as the name of BLACKPINK’s current world tour, which began last July with a historic performance at Goyang Sports Complex, the first by a K-pop girl group. This upcoming comeback is expected to be the grand finale of the emotional journey BLACKPINK has shared with global fans throughout the tour.
Having consistently broken numerous K-pop records, BLACKPINK is already anticipated to make another major impact with this release. Their previous digital single ‘JUMP’ topped the Billboard Global 200, marking their third No.1 on the chart, the most by any K-pop girl group to date.
Previously, YG Entertainment, the agency overseeing BLACKPINK’s group activities, hinted at a comeback in January, and the February release confirms those plans. According to YG, the group has already completed major album production, including the music video shoot, and is currently in post-production.
YG commented, “We sincerely thank fans for their patience over the past months. We are working to deliver music of the highest quality, and we ask for your continued interest and support.”
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is currently in the midst of a massive world tour with 33 shows across 16 cities. The group will perform for three consecutive days from January 16–18 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, followed by the final stop of the tour on January 24–26 at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.
