PSY Has Made Surprise Disclosure of “HANGOVER”’s Music video… English Rap + Korea’s Drinking Culture
[OSEN=박현민 기자] Part of the music video of PSY’s new song “HANGOVER” to be disclosed before the release of the new album, has been disclosed unexpectedly.
In the preview video of American TV network ABC’s late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel’s Live: Game Night”, which was disclosed on PSY’s official YouTube channel on the 6 at 1:30pm, Jimmy Kimmel announces that PSY and Snoop Dogg will appear in his show in the evening on the 8 this month in Eastern Standard Time (EST). Then, part of “HANGOVER”’s music video in which PSY and world-famous hip-hop musician Snoop Dogg appear together, is disclosed for the first time.
Even though only a short part of the video was disclosed, it is enough to see that the chorus part of the song is catchy enough with its English rap and repeated lyrics “HANGOVER”, just as “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman” are.
In line with the meaning of title “HANGOVER”, the music video shows PSY and Snoop Dogg who are “circulating a glass of soju (Korean liquor)”, which is part of Korea’s drinking culture, in a comic way, making viewers laugh. Plus, funny scenes that portray PSY and Snoop Dogg in sauna, convenience store, billiard club, and karaoke room also catch the eyes. Those humorous scenes are heightening expectations for the new music video that will create a big sensation among pop music fans around the world, following the suit of worldwide popularity of “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman”.
Meanwhile, “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” in which PSY will appear is a special episode of the show that will be aired right after the play-off of NBA games. Considering that the show will be aired in prime time that will draw more than double viewers than the number in usual times, PSY is expected to stand under a bigger spotlight. PSY will appear in the program with Snoop Dogg, to disclose the music video of “HANGOVER” and display talks and skits as well.
Right after first disclosing “HANGOVER”’s music video in the live-broadcast show on the day, it will be released on PSY’s official YouTube channel and the music will be released exclusively on iTunes of the United States and other countries around the world on June 9 at 0 o’clock in EST (June 9 at 1pm in Korean time).
