TAEYANG Is Ranked 112th on Billboard 200 Chart… Highest-Ever Record for Korean Male Singer
[마이데일리 = 최지예 기자] Group BIGBANG’s TAEYANG has recorded the highest-ever record for a Korean male singer on “Billboard 200” chart, which is American Billboard’s main chart.
According to Billboard chart on June 21, TAEYANG’s second full-length album “RISE” that was released on the 2 this month was ranked 112th on “Billboard 200” chart, recording the highest-ever rank for a Korean male singer.
Before that, girl group 2NE1’s album “CRUSH” that was released at the end of February this year was ranked 61st on “Billboard 200” chart on March 6, recording the highest-ever rank among Korean singers. Then, PSY’s “Gangnam Style” took the second place on “Billboard Hot 100”, Billboard’s single chart, to set the record for a Korean singer in that segment of the chart.
TAEYANG also took the No.1 on World Album chart and Hit-seekers chart, which calculate the sales of albums released in non-English-speaking countries, as well as on “Billboard 200”. Title track “Eyes, Nose, Lips” also took the No.1 on K-POP HOT 100 chart, winning the triple crown on Billboard chart of this week. “STAY WITH ME” featured by G-DRAGON is ranked 7th on K-POP 100, so TAEYANG has two of his songs in TOP 10 now.
TAEYANG’s second full-length album “RISE” is enjoying a big popularity both in and out of the country. The album’s title track “Eyes, Nose, Lips” has been sweeping top places of 10 Korean real-time music charts and daily charts, upon its release on the 2 at 12 o’clock in the night. It has also taken No.1 on the weekly chart of Mnet, NAVER Music, Daum Music, Genie, Olleh Music, Cyworld, and Gaon Chart, too.
“Eyes, Nose, Lips” has also drawn a big popularity on foreign music charts as well, taking the No.1 on iTunes album chart of 10 countries and the R&B chart of iTunes of the United States, the birthplace of R&B.
TAEYANG has also taken the No.1 in cable channel Mnet’s “M-Countdown” on the 12, upon his comeback.
