[OSEN=최나영 기자] YG Entertainment donated 100 million won to support emergency relief efforts in the wake of the Nepal earthquake.

On May 4, YG Entertainment donated 100 million won to the Korean Committee for UNICEF to help those who were displaced by the earthquake and the restoration efforts.

Until now, every time a YG artist holds a concert, YG Entertainment had a “YG WITH” installed at the venue to collect fans’ donations. YG Entertainment gathered the fans’ donations and carried out various projects to help Nepal through “Good Way With Us.”

The donations gathered at the G-DRAGON’s concert in 2013, 2NE1’s concert in 2014, and the YG Family concert in 2014 were used to fund the building of Hope Schools in Nepal and to provide computers, textbooks, and stationary to those schools.

Since the Children’s Day(May 5) is drawing near, YG Entertainment decided to donate 100 million won to help the displaced and support the restoration efforts in Nepal.

The money will be spent on buying relief supplies and medicine for preventing contagious diseases among children and teenagers in Nepal.

On April 25(local time), a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Nepal’s capital Katmandu and the Pokhara region. According to the announcement by Nepal’s Ministry of General Administration, 7,240 were killed, 14, 122 were injured, and 8.10 million were displaced. Because the region hit by the earthquake is densely populated, the human damage was great, and everything from food to water is running short.

Meanwhile, YG Entertainment established the YG Foundation last year to help underprivileged teenagers and children. YG Entertainment and YG artists are helping to spread the culture of donating through the Muju YG foundation and YG WITH Campaign – a volunteer program for those at YG Entertainment.

Along with Yonsei Severance Hospital, YG Entertainment is also sponsoring heart disease patients through the Dream Gift program. In addition, YG Entertainment has participated in soup kitchens to give meals to those in need.
