[POP ISSUE] SECHSKIES opens new chapter in their career by releasing new songs for the first time in 16 years
[헤럴드POP=박수인 기자] The next YG artist to come back has turned out to be SECHSKIES. They are finally unveiling new songs for the first time in 16 years since the team’s past breakup.
YG Entertainment (“YG”) posted “WHO’S NEXT” image on the company’s official blog in the morning on October 5. “WHO’S NEXT” which is YG’s own way of announcing artists’ comeback aroused great curiosity among the public. On October 5, YG announced, “New songs of an YG artist will be released on October 7”.
Music fans have put out different speculations. BLACKPINK who marked successful debut in August this year hinted on their comeback within this year, saying, “We have one more music video yet to be unveiled”. AKMU is also waiting for the release of “SPRING Vol.2” within this year following “SPRING Vol.1” released in May, because member LEE CHANHYUK will serve his mandatory military service from next year.
BIGBANG was also one of the candidates for YG’s new comeback. BIGBANG recently said, “Our 10th anniversary album is released within this year”. SEUNGRI also raised fans’ anticipation by saying in his V-APP broadcasting, “We’ve completed recording of new songs. The new album will be released soon”.
The artist picked by YG for comeback this month has turned out to be SECHSKIES. After their hectic schedules during the first half of this year with performance in MBC “The Infinite Challenge”, contract with YG, and the first concert in 16 years, SECHSKIES is now opening a new chapter in their career as an idol singer by releasing new songs on October 7 at 0 o’clock.
As SECHSKIES was reunited after 16 years of hiatus in their career, every move of the team has drawn keen attention from the public, as fans have long been waiting for SECHSKIES’ new songs. SECHSKIES’ new song “Three Words” unveiled in advance in their comeback concert was jointly written by EPIK HIGH’s TABLO and FUTURE BOUNCE. The song is known to be talking about SECHSKIES’ gratitude for fans.
Beginning from KBS 2TV’s music show “Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook” and comeback concert, SECHSKIES has been performing in a variety of music festivals.
