“D-7” BLACKPINK, new title track is “PLAYING WITH FIRE”… “Intense + sexy” first teaser image unveiled
[OSEN=최나영 기자] The title of girl group BLACKPINK’s new song to be released on November 1 has turned out to be “PLAYING WITH FIRE”.
On October 25 at 10AM, YG Entertainment released individual teaser posters of BLACKPINK’s member JENNIE and LISA, which also show “PLAYING WITH FIRE”, the title of the title track of BLACKPINK’s second single “SQUARE TWO”, on the company’s official blog (www.yg-life.com).
Unlike the teaser images unveiled before BLACKPINK’s debut in which the members were presented as innocent high-school girls, the two new teaser images display subtle appeals of young women who are just out of adolescence.
In the poster, JENNIE is revealing her irresistible charms with mesmerizing eyes seemingly looking at somebody over the window of a car, as well as lips slightly opened. On the other hand, LISA boasts her matured beauty, looking down as if she is waiting for someone. Just two months ago, they looked like high-school girls, but now, BLACKPINK is displaying subtle sexy appeal as young women who have just escaped puberty.
“PLAYING WITH FIRE” says that much caution is needed for a love that burns instantly like a flame, because it can also get cold and be put out easily, just as its lyrics “Love hurts you as it is like playing with fire” say.
The new title track of BLACKPINK’s “SQUARE TWO” is a song of a new genre completely different from “WHISTLE” and “BOOMBAYAH” of BLACKPINK’s debut single “SQUARE ONE”. The choreography for the new song was completed by four famous foreign choreographers, to further enhance the quality.
The music video of the new song was directed by Seo Hyun-seung who has also directed the official music video of BLACKPINK’s “BOOMBAYAH” which recently reached 50 million views.
YG Entertainment’s insider explained, “The lyrics of ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’ compares love of a young woman in her early twenties to playing with fire. As the lyrics say ‘Love hurts you as it is like playing with fire’, it says that much caution is needed for a love that burns instantly like a flame, because it can also get cold and be put out easily.”
The insider also mentioned, “’PLAYING WITH FIRE’ is a song of a new genre completely different from ‘WHISTLE’ and ‘BOOMBAYAH’. The choreography for the new song was completed by four famous foreign choreographers, to further enhance the quality. As we’ve done our best for the song for a long time, we have big anticipation for it.”
BLACKPINK had drawn keen attention from even before their debut, as rumors that YG Entertainment was to launch a new girl group who is both pretty and talented at the same time for the first time. Upon their debut, BLACKPINK boasted special presence in the music scene, sweeping No.1 on major music charts in and out of the country. Following domination of real-time, daily, and weekly music charts, BLACKPINK topped monthly chart for August and took No.1 in a public TV’s music show within 14 days of their debut, which is the shortest-ever period of time for a rookie girl group, to draw keen attention.
BLACKPINK also topped a variety of charts overseas, and even No.1 on the albums chart of the world’s iTunes. However, the ranking was deleted from the chart in a few days, for a reason that the running time was too short because two songs were ranked on the chart at the same time.
As BLACKPINK began their career so successfully like a miracle, it is only natural that many music fans have even bigger anticipation for the second chapter in BLACKPINK’s career that will begin on November 1.
