BIGBANG Returns for 20th Anniversary… Global Tour with YG confirmed

[일간스포츠=이수진 기자] YG Entertainment has announced the return of one of its flagship IPs, BIGBANG, along with upcoming comebacks of TREASURE and BABYMONSTER.
On March 4th, YG Entertainment posted “2026 YG PLAN | YG ANNOUNCEMENT” on its official blog. In the video, Chief Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK appeared in his first interview since last August and personally shared updates on YG artists scheduled for this year.
Ahead of the announcement, BIGBANG had already hinted at resuming activities as the group celebrates its 20th debut anniversary this year. YANG HYUN SUK revealed, “We have agreed with the BIGBANG members to hold a concert.”
The announcement carries particular significance as it not only celebrates BIGBANG’s 20-year musical journey but also marks the starting point for YG and BIGBANG reuniting to reaffirm the strength of the ‘YG FAMILY’ bond. YANG HYUN SUK stated, “Since we’ve worked together for such a long time, I don’t think there will be any difficulties,” and “All YG staff will do their best to create a perfect and outstanding performance.”

BABYMONSTER and TREASURE are also set for active promotions. BABYMONSTER is scheduled to release a mini-album in May, followed by its second full-length album this fall. YANG HYUN SUK introduced the mini-album’s title track, saying, “The title track is called ‘춤 (CHOOM)’. The Korean typography for the word ‘춤’ (dance) looks incredibly cool. It has an oriental vibe and looks almost like a person spreading their arms and dancing.”
In addition, beginning in June, BABYMONSTER will embark on its second world tour, traveling across South America, Europe, Oceania, and more.

TREASURE will open the second chapter of its career with a mini-album set for release in June. YANG HYUN SUK shared, “The members suddenly came to me and said they wanted to do hip-hop, which surprised me. Just as they wished, when you hear this album, you’ll think, ‘TREASURE can do this kind of music too.’ You can look forward to a cool, very YG-style sound that they’ve never shown before.”
Finally, YANG HYUN SUK stated, “This year marks YG’s 30th anniversary. Rather than sharing special sentiments, I’d like to say that we will continue making music here, staying true to our roots as we look ahead to our 40th and 50th anniversaries. Since last year, we have done our best to support the active promotions of BABYMONSTER and TREASURE. We will further refine the results and bring joyful news to everyone throughout the year.”
Meanwhile, the outline of YG’s new groups announced last year has become clearer. Through on-screen text, YG shared, “YG is preparing a new boy group, targeting Fall 2026,” and added that the remaining two members of the four-member girl group ‘NEXT MONSTER’ (tentative name), following EVELLI and CHANYA, will soon be revealed.
