[Issue IS] iKON is to Make a Comeback at Midnight, Aiming at Topping All the Charts For the The Third Time
[일간스포츠=황미현 기자] YG Entertainment’s new boy group iKON is set to dominate the charts for the third time in a row.
At midnight on the 16th, iKON will be releasing its third single after its “MY TYPE” and “RHYTHM TA”. YG’s top producers TEDDY and KUSH participated in making the new singles so it is highly likely that iKON will take the charts by storm once again.
iKON will be releasing two singles: a team song titled “APOLOGY” and a duet song by B.I and BOBBY titled “ANTHEM”. “APOLOGY” is a slow R&B song that has already captured the hearts of the fans after YG’s CEO YANG HYUN SUK released parts of its MV on his Instagram page.
In the black-and-white MV, iKON members express the pain and sorrow of a breakup while being charismatic at the same time. Once you see the MV, you will end up looking forward to the release of “APOLOGY”.
iKON dominated the charts upon debut with their “MY TYPE” announcing the beginning of a “monster rookie”. They were able to do so well because they have built such a wide fan base by doing Mnet’s survival shows and worked hard to hone their skills for two years after that.
iKON’s next single “RHYTHM TA” became as popular as “MY TYPE” although the song was totally different. “MY TYPE” is a medium tempo song but “RHYTHM TA” is a hiphop song with a powerful beat. “RHYTHM TA” also topped all the charts and placed iKON firmly on a path to success.
“APOLOGY” is the third single of iKON. YG’s CEO YANG HYUN SUK guaranteed that it will become “the biggest hit song of iKON”. It is a song about a man who has to leave his lover against his will. It will be interesting to see how iKON members express such pain of a breakup on the stage.
According to the original plans, iKON’s comeback date was November 1. However, YG CEO YANG HYUN SUK’s decided that it would be better strategically to delay it to 16. It will be interesting to see the results of YANG HYUN SUK’s strategy and confidence and the special chemistry between iKON and TEDDY and KUSH.
Meanwhile, iKON will be releasing “ANTHEM” and “APOLOGY” along with the MVs at 12 AM on November 16 and their debut full album on December 14.
