iKON Starts Japan Dome Tour in the Run Up to Their Comeback
[헤럴드POP=박수정 기자] Boy group iKON’s Osaka Kyocera Dome concert on May 20 was a big success. It was the group’s first concert for their “iKON JAPAN DOME TOUR 2017”.
Last year, iKON went on an arena tour, which attracted a total of 322,000 people. It was the biggest number of audience for a rookie that debuted less than a year ago. iKON also set a new record of taking the shortest time for a foreign act to hold a dome tour.
All the subway stations around the Kyocera Dome was filled with iKON fans. They were wearing red clothes and other items that show their support for the group, demonstrating iKON’s huge popularity in Japan.
iKON kicked off the concert by performing “SINO SIJAK (remix ver.)” and “JUST ANOTHER DAY”. Then, the group sang a number of their hit songs such as “MY TYPE (acoustic ver.)”, “#WYD”, “APOLOGY” and “AIRPLANE” in Japanese in front of 50,000 people. BOBBY and B.I put on solo and unit stages and sang “ANTHEM”, “BE I”, and “HOLUP”.
iKON talked about the special meaning of this concert. In 2014, iKON put on its first ever performance abroad as Team B when the group was doing the survival program WIN, and the venue was the Kyocera Dome. iKON played the videos and pictures of them taken then and made the audience laugh by repeating the exact introduction and remarks they made at that time.
Lastly, B.I raised expectations for the group’s new songs and said, “In two days, our new songs will be released. We plan to do diverse promotional activities, and you’ll be able to see a side of us that you’ve never seen before.”
iKON successfully held their Osaka Kyocera Dome concert, and their second concert will take place on June 17 at the Saitama Metlife Dome. iKON will release a new album titled “NEW KIDS : BEGIN”, the title tracks of which are “BLING BLING” and “B-DAY”, at 6 PM on May 22.
