YG’s YANG HYUN SUK Steps Forward… A Major Turning Point for TREASURE’s “Second Chapter” Activities
[OSEN=장우영 기자] YG Entertainment Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK is personally stepping up and taking the lead. The move is aimed at elevating the overall quality of TREASURE’s new album.
According to YG Entertainment on the 26th, Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK participated in every track included in TREASURE’s 4th mini album ‘NEW WAV’, set for release on June 1. In particular, he provided full-scale support to the extent that his name (YG) was listed first in the composition and arrangement credits for every song except one track.
Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK has previously taken part directly in representative songs by YG artists, including BABYMONSTER’s recently released “CHOOM.” However, this marks the first time he has stepped fully to the forefront and overseen every track on an album as he did for the mini album ‘NEW WAV’.
Earlier, Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK introduced ‘NEW WAV’ as “personally my favorite result among TREASURE’s albums,” while announcing that the album would mark the beginning of TREASURE’s second chapter. As the album serves as a key turning point for TREASURE’s new leap forward and transformation, it offers a glimpse into the tremendous effort YANG devoted to the project.
The 4th mini album ‘NEW WAV’ features a total of four new tracks, including the title track “IF I,” along with “ZOOM ZOOM,” “NALLY-NA (HYUNHAYO of TREASURE),” and “DANGER.” Through this release, TREASURE will grandly open their “second chapter” with their signature colors and an even more defined musical identity. Previously released teaser contents have already heightened anticipation by hinting at the members’ new musical world filled with YG’s signature deep hip-hop vibe and raw, untamed energy.
Regarding the title track “IF I,” YG stated, “It is a song that conveys strong confidence and ambition to prove their possibilities and potential while aiming for even greater heights,” further raising expectations.
In particular, YG described TREASURE’s 4th mini album by saying, “This album expresses TREASURE’s diverse charms through the hip-hop genre, allowing listeners to experience a musical world that has become clearer than ever before,” adding, “Please look forward to TREASURE approaching with even bolder and more intense charms, as well as their new chapter.”
