YANG, “NONAGON’s purpose is to raise awareness of Korea more than profit-making”
[OSEN=김사라 기자] YG’s YANG, with the launch of NONAGON, commented that he will “prepare it in full force without looking to make profits.”
At the launching party held in Seoul Gangnam’s Club in the afternoon of Sept 11 for NONAGON, a brand created by YG-Cheil Mojik’s joint brand Natural9, YANG commented, “It took me 2 years to be here.”
“We wanted to let the world know about YG since JINUSEAN, but it took us 17 years. And we encountered Cheil Mojik, a great company with which we aim to become the best in South Korea, rather than focusing on making a profit.”
“We can’t guarantee the outcome because this is my first attempt at launching a brand. PSY once said, Indians pray until it rains. We will devote months or years in this until it becomes a brand that can represent Korea.”
YG and Samsung Cheil Mojik previously co-founded Natural9 with the intention to use their strengths to continuously make developments. That being the starting point, NONAGON, having its 9 angles of diversity and infinite growth, is their new fashion brand on the horizon.
The brand targets those in their late teens or in early 30’s, who are into young street casual fashion. The main items are leather jackets, sweatshirts, mini dresses and snapbacks. Most items use quality jerseys and leather, which makes it practical and ideal to wear.
Through global distributions in select shops and pop-up stores, Natural9’s NONAGON will be sold wholesale. In 2017, the two companies aim to reach a sale of KRW 100 billion.
