YG Launches Cosmetics Brand “moonshot”… Holding Launching party on the 2
[OSEN=이혜린 기자] YG Entertainment (“YG”) begins cosmetics business in earnest.
YG launches its cosmetics brand “moonshot” and holds launching party “Moon Tanning Party” in the afternoon on the 2, in Platoon Kunsthalle located in Gangnam, Seoul.
The brand name “moonshot” came from the success of American spaceship Apollo No. 11 that landed the Moon on July 20, 1969, making the dream of the humankind come true. The name of the brand shows its will to get away from the stereotype of cosmetics brands and to wage various new attempts.
YG’a head producer YANG HYUN SUK, YG’s president YANG MIN SUK, “moonshot”’s model LEE SUNG KYUNG and CHOI SO RA, celebrities including CHA SEUNG WON, and other fashion people will attend the launching party. EPIK HIGH is to give a celebratory performance at the party.
Last year, YG signed a partnership with cosmetics company CosOn, for the purpose of entering the cosmetics business.
YG takes the responsibility of branding and CosOn carries out R&D and manufacturing. For the partnership, the two companies established a separate corporation with experts who have rich experience in cosmetics business. After one year of preparation, finally, “moonshot” is launched.
Notably, YG has recently seen several good lucks such as investment by world-famous fashion group LVMH’s private equity fund L Capital Asia. As such, YG has attracted interest from different overseas business partners and now is thinking about overseas business expansion.
‘’moonshot’’ is a total cosmetic brand focusing on makeup products. The brand will launch total 208 products including 21 skincare products, 23 base makeup products, and 162 color makeup products. Its main target is young women in their twenties and thirties, who have keen interest in trend.
After holding the launching party on the 2, ‘’moonshot’’ will begin the business in earnest by opening on/off-line flagship stores from mid-October.
