[뉴스1=김민지 기자] Boy-group TREASURE’s ‘HELLO’ was chosen as ‘The Best K-pop Songs and Albums of 2022’ by U.S. Times magazine, proving their musical values as a K-pop group and popularity across the globe.

U.S. magazine Time released on the 13th their list of ‘The Best K-pop Songs and Albums of 2022’. The title-song of TREASURE’s 2nd mini-album ‘HELLO’ was included in the list, proving how they’re making their presence clear in the global music scene.

Times said, “The song is nostalgic because of its composition that’s reminiscent of early 2010s pop, and futuristic because there’s something about Treasure’s delivery—in particular, the rap verses that are so snazzy”. They then added that the instrumentals work in harmony in a dynamic way, and that it portrays various elements of YG’s signature music. The magazine praised the song saying, “If someone’s ears reached a climax, it will probably be because they’re listening to TREASURE’s ‘HELLO’”.

This is the second time the magazine has put spotlight on the group, proving their steep growth as a global artist. Previously, TREASURE was chosen as one of the ‘K-Pop Groups to Watch in 2021’. At the time, the magazine praised the group by saying “The group showed its versatility with their first three single albums. In particular, the title-song of their first full album ‘My Treasure’ feature dynamic melodies that highlight the members’ rich and varied vocal colors—a true strength of the group”.

‘Hello’ is a dance song which starts off with a grand verse which leads into a free chorus with a punk rock element and explosive melody line. The song took the first spot in major Japanese music sites such as Rakuten and AWA, and later topped the weekly chart of Rakuten Music. The M/V was listed on the ‘Most Watched YouTube Video in 24 Hours’ right after it was released, being loved by music fans from all around the world.

Meanwhile, TREASURE is successfully carrying out their first Arena Tour in Japan in 2 years since their debut. They recently wrapped up their Hokkaido concert, which sold out completely, and will now head to Fukui, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Hyogo, Tokyo, and Saitama. They will head out to Kyosera Dome in Osaka on the 28th and 29th of January, performing for the first time at a dome.
