Daesung Climbs Up Ranks on Oricon for Three Days, Satisfying Japanese Fans with His Solo Album
BigBang’s Daesung has been climbing up ranks on Oricon daily chart for three days in a row, after releasing his solo album in Japan for the first time.
On Saturday, Oricon daily chart, Japan’s largest music ranking site, revelaed that Daesung ranked number four with his first solo album D’scover released on February 27.
Daesung ranked number four on Oricon immediately after his album D’scover went on sale, and since then he jumped up two to come in at number two in just one day after selling additional 10,876 copies.
It is extremely rare for a non-Japanese artist to rank above number five for three days in a row, and this is a clear testament to Daesung’s popularity and competitiveness as a solo artist in Japan.
Daesung’s new album D’scover, which are all recorded in Japanese, consists of twelve songs in total: ten J-Pop cover songs which he has chosen personally, along with two of his solo songs.
D’scover is an album that expresses Daesung’s unique voice on a new level as songs that were most popular in Japan for a long period of time are selected. Four most talented producers in Japan helped create Deasung’s album: Seiji Kameda from the band Tokyo Jihen, producer and composer Kiyoshi Matsuo, composer Masanori Sasaji, and m-flo’s VERBAL.
Daesung currently stands at number two on Oricon daily chart, and at number six is Jang Keun-suk, with his project group Team H’s first regular album.
