YG’s Yang Hyun-suk, “Starting from 2NE1, YG artists will appear more often on music programs”
[OSEN=황미현 기자] YG Entertainment will break away from its once-a-week appearance on music program plan, which has been the agency’s policy for the last 4 years. The CEO said the agency’s artists will appear more often on music programs from now on.
On From-YG, which is YG’s official blog, the CEO of the entertainment agency posted an entry on June 28 at around 4 p.m. He wrote, “Starting from 2NE1’s release of their new song in July, the artists will appear more often on television.”
Yang Hyun-suk has held back on allowing the artists to appear on TV music program since 2009, which was when 2NE1 made their debut. But the changes in policy from July when the girl group makes a comeback will not only increase their participation in music programs but also in variety shows.
On the reason behind the changes, he explained, “the plan helped our artists carry out activities both home and abroad, which led to the increase in the number of international fans and the scale of our overseas market. On the other hand, we feel regretful that our Korean fans have a lot less opportunity to see the artists now. We are sorry that our Korean fans did not have many chances to see BIGBANG and 2NE1 who were away for World Tours last year.”
He announced, “So taking everything into consideration, we may come up with a new promotional method that is more suitable for us, rather than continuing the once-a-week appearance plan. From beginning of July, 2NE1 will be seen a lot more often on TV when they release “Falling in Love”. We will be having some in-depth discussion with our artists about appearing on variety shows, which is something we were holding back until now.”
YG artists were known for their quality performances that were shown once a week on TV music program. But now that the policy will change starting from the second half of this year, fans will see a lot more of 2NE1, G-Dragon, Taeyang, YG’s new girl group and Kang Seung-yoon on TV from now on.
